Sparkling Apple Punch

Yields: 10

Prep Time: 5

Ingredients:

5 Cups chilled apple cider

2 bottles (12 oz each) sparkling apple juice chilled

1 cup chilled pineapple juice

1 cup orange juice

8 red apple rings

cinnamon sticks if desired


Directions:

In a large punch bowl or pitcher, mix cider and juices. Place apple rings on top of punch. Garnish each serving with cinnamon stick.

Select a super crisp fall such as honey crisp for the apple rings.

Spiced Pear Cider

Yields: 8 Cups

Ingredients:

16 whole allspice berries
8 whole cloves
4 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks
6 cups unsweetened pear juice
2 cups pear nectar


Directions:

Place allspice, cloves and cinnamon sticks in the conter of a coffee filter or an 8-inch square of cheesecloth. Gather edges and tie with a small piece of kitchen string. Combine spice bag, pear juice and pear nectar in a 3-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting 3 hours. Remove and discard spice bag. Serve hot. Makes 8 cups.

Triple this recipe for a crowd. If warm weather is predicted, prepare it a day in advance and chill. Served over crushed ice.

Witch’s Wassail

Yields: 40 Servings

Prep Time: 5Mins, Start to Finish: 25 Mins

Ingredients:

4 Quarts apple cider
1 Quart cranberry-apple drink
1/3 Cup packed brown sugar
1 Cup fresh orange juice
2 Cinnamon sticks (3 inch)
1 Teaspoon whole cloves
Orange slices, if desired


Directions:

1. In 6-quart stockpot, stir together all ingredients except orange slices. Heart to simmering (do not boil). Simmer uncovered 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain; discard cinnamon sticks and cloves. Serve cider hot. Garnish with orange slices.

My Notes:

Tip: Place cinnamon stick and cloves in a cheesecloth back for easy removal, then you won’t have to strain the cider.

Slow Cooker Witch’s Cider

Yields: 24

Prep Time: 5 Min Prep Time | 4 Hrs 5 Min Total Time

Ingredients:

1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons whole allspice
4 cinnamon sticks (3 inch)
1 bottle (48 oz) apple cider (6 cups)
1 bottle (48 oz) cranberry juice cocktail (6 cups)
Cinnamon sticks, if desired


Directions:

1. In 3 1/2 to 6 quart slow cooker, mix all ingredients except additional cinamon sticks.
2. Cover; cook on low heat setting 4 to 6 hours. Remove allspice and cinnamon before serving. Garnish with additional cinnamon sticks.

Tie the spices in a cheesecloth bag and they will be easy to remove from the hot cider. If you don’t have cheesecloth, place the spides in a paper coffee filter and tie it with a piece of kitchen string

Mulled Cider

Yields: 6 servings

Ingredients:

3 cups fresh apple cider
2 cups dry red wine
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
1 orange or 2 tangerines (sliced)
1 medium apple or 4 Lady apples (sliced 1/4 inch thick)


Directions:

1. Combine apple cider, dry red wine, maple syrup, peppercorns, orange or tangerines, and apple(s) in a medium pot. Gently simmer over medium-low heat for 10 minutes. Serve warm, in mugs.

Apple Cider, Cranberry & Ginger Punch

Yields: 4 Servings

Ingredients:

1/3 cup fresh cranberries
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 cups fresh apple cider
2/3 cup chilled ginger beer
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3 1/2 ounces (1/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons) gin, if desired

 


Directions:

1. Muddle cranberries with sugar in a pitcher. Add apple cider, ginger beer, lemon juice, and gin if desired. Divide among 4 glasses. Serve chilled or over ice.

Herbal Cranberry Punch

Yields: 6

Ingredients:

2 1/2 Cups cranberry juice cocktail
2 1/2 Cups water
4 Orange, apple or raspberry herbal tea bags
2 to 3 Tablespoons sugar (optional)


Directions:

1. Combine cranberry juice and water in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

2. Add tea bags, remove from heat; cover. Let steep at least 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and discard. Add sugar, if desired.

Hot Spiced Cranberry Juice

Yields: 2 1/2 Quarts

Ingredients:

3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
3/4 teaspoon cloves
2 cans jellied cranberry sauce
3 cups water
1 quart pineapple juice
Cinnamon sticks
Butter or margarine


Directions:

1. Bring to a boil sugar, water, salt, spices.

2. Crush cranberry sauce with fork.

3. Add water and beat with rotary beater until smooth.

4. Add cranberry liquid and pineapple juice to hot spiced sirup and heat to boiling.

5. Serve hot. Dot with butter or margarine. Serve with cinnamon stick stirrers.
