Today is my birthday! That’s right – October is the best month to have a birthday in, I get Halloween gifts that way!
I totally re-organized the recipes sections into individual sections. I noticed as the recipes have continued to grow, the layout needed to be expanded beyond two columns. I added three new recipes today including a yummy pumpkin drink, chocolate covered apples and pumpkin chili! I will soon be adding my quick and easy chocolate chip pumpkin muffins.
After a long summer, cooler temperatures have arrived here. I am very excited to say that it finally feels like fall and Halloween is around the corner. As there is just a few weeks left until Halloween, what else can I add to this website to help make your Halloween the best? Let me know via comment below. If you use anything from this website, take a photo and send it my way! I am taking a day off for my birthday, but will be back soon with more updates! Photo pictured is the fogging candy cauldron in the decorating section!
Martha Stewart Living October 2010 is now on newsstands! It includes 125 ideas and a 50% off Michael’s coupon for Martha Stewart crafts, go pick up a copy! Wednesday September 22nd marks the first day of fall. What will you do to celebrate the day? Take out the fall or Halloween decorations? Plan a Halloween party? If a party is in the near future, the recipes section is a perfect place to start. I added seven brand new recipes, updated the TV guide and two brand new decorating ideas.
One way I am celebrating the first day of autumn is the starting of my annual Halloween movie kickoff! Many people commented on the 13 Nights of Halloween blog I posted a few weeks ago and the one majority opinions is – the movie line up stinks! Many people prefer the classic Halloween films and specials, my list consists of the following movies: Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Hocus Pocus, Practical Magic, Halloweentown series, Don’t Look Under The Bed, Mom’s Got a Date With a Vampire, Goosebumps Haunted Mask, Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleepy Hollow, The Haunted Mansion, Scream series, Halloween series, Scary Godmother series, The Good Witch series. That is just the tip of my list; I am forgetting MANY movies as most of my DVD’s need to be unboxed (since I moved not too long ago). But I also want to mention that many of these movies are on YouTube, so if the TV fails you and you don’t own the DVD’s, it’s a perfect last minute fix. Because I am so Halloween crazy, any of the movies linked above will take you directly to YouTube so you can watch and enjoy! Note: I did not upload these movies and am simply linking to what already has been available on YouTube, thnx.
Today is the day I have been looking forward to all year – it’s officially the start of the Halloween season. Stores will stock Halloween merchandise and Halloween stores will open their doors for Halloween 2010. If you have not seen my list of stores with early Halloween merchandise, be sure to see it. I am rather impressed with most of the merchandise this year and can’t wait to see what the rest of the stores have planned.
In preparations for the Halloween season kick off, I have added new recipes, new decorating how-to’s and a brand new wine label (vampire inspired – no, not the sparkling kind, the blood kind). The Halloween TV guide has it’s first listings for September – enjoy. I have got plenty cooking up behind the scenes, so keep clicking that mouse over to oct31st!
Also, be sure to check out Martha Stewarts Halloween “bookzine” out now! This special edition bookzine is a rewind of all past decorations, how-to’s, recipes and more. It is also printed on a special new kind of paper. The NEW Halloween edition of Martha Stewart Living will be out late September, early October.
I just wanted to post a quick update to let everyone know that the Recipes page is currently in progress and will take just a little bit to get everything organized. In the meantime I am going to continue to update the Halloween TV guide as well as the build the reviews section. I also wanted to let everyone know that between the 13th-16th there will be server upgrades that are out of my control and there may be possible downtimes during the upgrade. Thank you for understanding. I will post an update when the addtional updates are live!
